There's nothing greater than hearing a brand new song and having the melody and chorus grab you straight away.Only a few bands are capable of this quality but even fewer solo artists have the courage to attempt to create those songs.
At only 20 years of age David Bateman, hailing from Stirlingshire in the midst of Scotland is one of the hottest acts to emerge from the country and has been crafting his own melodic slices of pop perfection for the past three years, creating his first songs and playing his first gigs at the age of 16.In those three years David has created a buzz wherever he has played, leaving a trail of people in shock and awe at the power of his voice and song smithery, and making sure the word is being spread, even recieving a nod from a few celebrity fans too!

Tom Clarke (singer with the Enemy) said "I've been playing Davids music to the lads all week and speaking to the tour manager about support slots for him.Top stuff!"

Mickey Dale (of Embrace) "See you in the charts mate!"

Norman Blake (of Teenage Fanclub) "I didn't expect that voice to come from that mouth.Brilliant!

The List Magazine "David Bateman does acoustic simplicity reminiscent of 90's Britpop alumni Ocean Colour Scene,The Seahorses, and James.4 out of 5 stars"

"I'm pleased with what I've achieved so far on my own. There's not many people who can say they have done half of what I've done with just an acoustic guitar and their voice." says David
Before the age of 19 David had already played most major venues in Scotland supporting big names Mark Morriss (of The Bluetones),Chris Helme (of The Seahorses),Tom Hingley (of Inspiral Carpets),Tommy Reilly, and the Complete Stone Roses as well as playing two nights at Glasgows O2 Academy (2500 capacity, sold out) and one date at Edinburghs Corn Exchange (3000 capacity). This has seen Davids confidence grow stronger as well as his knack for songwriting, taking influence from mainly British groups such as The Beatles,The Small Faces,Slade, and The Who.You're guaranteed be hooked and bopping along to his songs in no time.
David Bateman provides vocals reminiscent of 90's Britpop alumni Ocean Colour Scene, the cheerful madness of Supergrass with a dash of the Sweet for that tuneful glam rock touch on tracks such as "Caroline" and "Caught Between the Earth and Sky".However,David also has the ability to write gorgeous, haunting melodies that stick in the mind too."Photograph" and "Sideshows in the Rain" have a charismatic approach influenced by the likes of James yet somehow Byrds-esque with a similar writing style of Roger McGuinn.
It's all simply working out for David. With a recent support slot at the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut venue in Glasgow,he sold more tickets than chart-breaking act Karima Francis and was then asked to headline the gig by promoters which David was only more than happy to do.
A musician that lives for his music and continues to better himself over and over again.David Bateman should one day find himself at the top.
